Death in Paradise is set to return to screens very soon, with a feature-length Christmas special arriving on BBC iPlayer from Friday, November 27, ahead of its broadcast on the BBC over the festive season.
The long-running drama's brand-new special centres on a compelling Caribbean mystery. As Christmas approaches on Saint Marie, celebrations take a deadly turn, with DI Mervin Wilson (played by Don Gilet) back on the case.
Star-Studded Guest Line-Up
Joining the regular cast - including Don Warrington (Commissioner Selwyn Patterson), Shantol Jackson (DS Naomi Thomas), Shaquille Ali-Yebuah (Officer Sebastian Rose), Catherine Garton (Sergeant Mattie Fletcher), and Élizabeth Bourgine (Catherine Bordey) - is a star-studded guest line-up.
The guest cast includes The Fast Show's Charlie Higson, Doc Martin's Caroline Catz, Such Brave Girls star Freddie Meredith, Misfits actor Shaun Dooley, Line of Duty's Anneika Rose, The Winter King's Ene Frost, and Coronation Street's Alexandra Mardell.
The Pendleford Mystery
According to the official synopsis, the episode follows the murder of the patriarch of one of Britain's most famous families on their private Saint Marie island, placing the Pendleford dynasty under suspicion. The police team must navigate family tensions, bitter rivalries, and carefully buried secrets, with everyone having something to hide.
As festive cheer curdles into suspicion, Seb and Mattie follow a crucial lead, and a shocking connection to the past emerges. The investigation also threatens the team's festive plans: Naomi finds herself torn between duty and family, while Selwyn is forced to revisit a case from his past. Catherine's Christmas takes an unexpected turn when a chance encounter brings someone new into her life.
The hit spin-off Beyond Paradise will also return this month with its own festive special, featuring DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and the Shipton Abbott team. Guest stars include Johnny Vegas, Paul Chowdhry, Martin Trenaman, Syreeta Kumar, and Sam Hunter.
Death in Paradise, filmed on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, has consistently ranked as one of the UK's most watched television shows. The series was last on screen in March, when the series 15 finale aired on BBC One.
