Louisa Harland and Debi Mazar Join RTÉ Adaptation of Marian Keyes' The Walsh Sisters

Louisa Harland, best known for her role as Orla McCool in Channel 4's Derry Girls, is set to lead RTÉ's adaptation of Marian Keyes' The Walsh Sisters. The series has also cast Debi Mazar, who recently starred as Medusa in Netflix's Kaos, alongside Aidan Quinn and Carrie Crowley.

Harland will portray the troubled Anna Walsh, with BAFTA nominee Máiréad Tyers (Extraordinary) playing Helen. The Walsh family is completed by Stefanie Preissner as Maggie, Danielle Galligan as Claire, and Caroline Menton as Rachel. Mazar takes on the role of Chaquie, while Quinn plays Jack 'Daddy' Walsh and Crowley plays the eccentric Mammy Walsh.

The comedy drama, described as a 'comedy about serious things', is set in Dublin and follows the Walsh sisters navigating their late 20s and 30s. The series is based on two of Keyes' novels, Rachel's Holiday and Anybody Out There, and is produced by Cuba Pictures and Metropolitan Pictures in association with the BBC, Screen Ireland, and Cineflix Rights.

Harland expressed her excitement, stating: 'Couldn't be happier to be part of the Walsh family. These books mean so much to so many. It's the dream job.' The first season, directed by Ian FitzGibbon, begins production this month and is set to premiere in the autumn.
