A Place In The Sun viewers were left distracted by a “death trap” feature in a property as they reacted to the steep stairs inside a house on the Greek island of Lefkada.
The Channel 4 show returned on Tuesday (November 3) with host Ben Hillman, who was tasked with finding Jacqueline, from Shropshire, a retirement home on the island. With a maximum budget of £302k, Jacqueline was looking for a 2-3 bedroom house with a pool and views.
Property features and viewer reactions
Ben showed Jacqueline and her sister-in-law Linda several properties. The second one, a stone-built house with a pool, courtyard and three bedrooms, caught Jacqueline's attention.
Ben described the unfurnished interior as having “a huge open plan, living, dining, and kitchen area, with a mezzanine level above, and it's the perfect place to have family to stay,” adding that all three bedrooms came with their own en suite shower room.
However, viewers were concerned about the steep stairs leading to the mezzanine. On X, one person said: “Death stairs!” Another added: “I'd break my neck either going up there or coming down.” A third chimed in: “The stairs (ladder) up to the mezzanine,” with a shocked face emoji. Someone else wrote: “It’s a no from me!”
Jacqueline's decision
Jacqueline and Linda also shared their thoughts on the stairs. Jacqueline said: “These are quite steep.” Linda admitted: “I don't really like these stairs. I have to say, there's not a lot to get hold of.”
Despite this, Jacqueline said the property was a contender. However, near the end of the episode, she decided not to make any offers, telling Ben she planned to wait until her home in the UK was up for sale and would return to the island for another look.
A Place In The Sun airs Monday to Friday at 6pm on Channel 4.
