The fate of Ruby Shelby, Tommy Shelby's daughter, has been a lingering question for Peaky Blinders fans after the recent film. Ruby, played by Heaven-Leigh Clee, died from tuberculosis (consumption) in season six of the TV series. She was seven years old.
Tommy believed Ruby was cursed after he gave away a sapphire necklace that once belonged to his first wife, Grace. The sapphire, originally from Russian aristocrat Grand Duke Leon Petrovich Romanov, was later given to Romani woman Bethany Barwell and then to her sister Evadne. Evadne placed the sapphire around her own daughter Connie's neck, who died the next day. Evadne then cursed Tommy for bringing the sapphire into their lives.
Ruby fell ill after seeing visions of a grey man. Tommy attempted to find Esme Shelby and Evadne to pay them gold to lift the curse, but he was too late. He returned to the hospital to find Ruby had died, leaving Lizzie distraught. Tommy later avenged Ruby's death by shooting Evadne.
In the film, Tommy claims to see Ruby on the grounds of his derelict mansion and later finds her red scarf on a tree branch, which he places on a gravestone. The film, 'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man', is now streaming on Netflix.
