Sarah Louise Platt has been arrested for murder on Coronation Street, but actress Tina O'Brien is not leaving the ITV soap. The gripping whodunnit storyline began in April with the hunt for Theo Silverton's killer, and Sarah was revealed as the culprit with help from Gary Windass to cover her tracks.
Earlier this week, Sarah was handcuffed and taken to the station by D.S. Lisa Swain after Theo's blood was found on her clothes. The storyline will continue for several weeks as Sarah remains in prison, with details about the night of Theo's death still to unfold.
Sarah Swears Innocence at the Station
Tonight at the station, Sarah insists she is innocent. Lisa tells Kit that Sarah is their prime suspect and that they believe Kit was involved too. Lisa informs Kit that Sarah is being charged with murder, and if he values his career, he should stop trying to protect her.
Later in the week, Todd confesses to a shocked Summer that he knew Sarah killed Theo but didn't know at the time Summer was being questioned. Meanwhile, Kit tries to persuade Sarah to tell the truth about Gary's involvement.
Having seen Gary and Maria enjoying a family meal, Kit confronts Gary for playing happy families while Sarah rots in prison. Gary feels wretched.
Sarah Comes Clean to Lisa
Maria visits Sarah and rails at her for involving Gary in Theo's death. Sarah finally decides to come clean to a shocked Lisa about killing Theo, but it remains unclear if she will drag Gary down with her.
Kit is shocked when Sarah reveals it was Jodie who attacked her. Maria struggles with what Gary's involvement means for her family. Shona and David's joy at Harper coming home from hospital is short-lived when news of Sarah's admission reaches them.
Nick, Toyah, and Leanne find out that Sam is also being discharged, but Nick worries about the effect on Sam when he learns his auntie Sarah has been charged with murder.
Next Week: Shona Confronts Sarah
Next week, an angry Shona confronts her sister after finding out from Kit that it was Jodie who attacked Sarah. They visit Sarah in prison, and she tells them about Jodie's trinket box. Will they be able to find it?
With David and Shona in bed, Lily tiptoes downstairs for her console, reaches under the sofa, and pulls out Jodie's trinket box. What will she find?
Maria wakes up with a hangover, and Gary urges her to pull a sickie. Spotting them, David is furious that she is swinging the lead while he had to close the salon to visit Sarah in prison. Maria angrily stalks off, asserting that Sarah is where she belongs.
David and Shona arrive home from hospital with Harper to a surprise family welcome party. Everyone is stunned when Jodie arrives and tells them she has told the police about the assault. She asks if she can move back in while waiting for her court case.
Sam is upset when David won't let him hold Harper. Lily quizzes Jodie about the trinket box. Bethany visits Sarah in prison and tells her about Jodie's shock arrival at the party and her confession to the police about the assault.
At No.6, Carla tells Lisa that she is going to visit Sarah later, as Sarah is not coping well and Harry is struggling without her. Lisa is left troubled.
Coronation Street airs tonight at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
