Bridgerton fans have been given reason to hope for a new spin-off series, as executive producer and director Tom Verica has hinted at an upcoming announcement. Speaking to Deadline, Verica revealed that discussions are underway for additional projects set in the Bridgerton universe, following the success of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
Verica stated: 'With Queen Charlotte, we thoroughly enjoyed that experience. It was a smaller look at a particular love story that's spanned over those episodes and I think we caught something that people really responded to.' He added: 'So, we are in talks of some other projects, hopefully, something, some news will be coming out at some point, hopefully.'
When pressed for details, Verica hinted that the new spin-off would involve familiar characters, saying: 'I will say this, there have been characters that you've met before, ones that you are invested in.' He also noted that the large cast offers many storytelling possibilities, concluding: 'But the particular ones we're talking about, it's going to be really enjoyable.'
Fans have taken to social media to express their desires for a spin-off, with many calling for a series focusing on Kate and Anthony (Kanthony), while others suggested stories about Violet and Edmund Bridgerton or the Featheringtons. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, released in 2023, was a critical and commercial success, earning a Primetime Emmy and a 90% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Bridgerton itself has been renewed for seasons five and six, and season four is set to premiere on Netflix on January 29 (part 1) and February 26 (part 2). The upcoming season adapts the third novel, An Offer From A Gentleman, centering on Benedict Bridgerton and maid Sophie Baek.
