Meghan Markle's Netflix Endeavours Struggle to Find Audience
Official viewing figures from Netflix have revealed that Meghan Markle's television show failed to break into the streaming giant's top 1,000 most-watched programmes. The second season of With Love, Meghan, which received substantial promotion upon its release last August, languished at position 1,217 in the most-watched shows during the final six months of 2025.
Disappointing Performance Across Multiple Releases
The eight-part series featured celebrity guests including Chrissy Teigen and Tan France, with Meghan sharing intimate details about her family life. She discussed Archie and Lilibet's favourite foods and colours, alongside revealing how Prince Harry said 'I love you' first during their safari trip to Botswana. Despite this personal content, Netflix viewers demonstrated greater interest in over 1,000 other shows available on the platform.
Meghan's Netflix Holiday Celebration special performed slightly better, charting at position 1,015. This festive episode featured her famous friends and husband visiting a rented house for Christmas food and fun, including tips on wrapping presents. However, this flurry of new content last year failed to generate renewed interest in the show's first season, which ranked at 3,196 in Netflix's latest What We Watched report.
Netflix's Top Performers Outshine Royal Content
Between July and December 2025, Netflix's most popular shows included Wednesday, Stranger Things, Untamed and Squid Game. These programmes were streamed between 56 million and 123 million times during the six-month period. In stark contrast, various iterations of With Love, Meghan attracted between 600,000 and 2.3 million views.
Multiple sources have now claimed that Meghan's heavily promoted show will not return for a third series on Netflix, following the Duchess describing the production as a lot of work. The second season was filmed last year in a rented home in Montecito, close to the Sussexes' own mansion.
Critical Reception and Future Prospects
The Duchess of Sussex's Christmas special received particularly harsh criticism from reviewers. The Daily Mail's reviewer awarded it zero stars out of five, describing the syrupy hypocrisy and our hostess's deep lack of self-awareness as making the show so unlikeable. The Times columnist noted that guests queue up to say implausible things, running the gamut from moronic to trite, while the Telegraph's one-star review labelled the episode quite mad and a little bit sad.
On the review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, the special received an overall 23 per cent approval rating. Despite this critical reception, Meghan is reportedly still hopeful about producing July 4 and Valentine's Day specials of her show.
Contractual Arrangements and Alternative Platforms
The Sussexes maintain a first look deal with Netflix, which grants the streaming service the initial opportunity to accept or reject their content ideas. Should Netflix decline, the couple are free to seek alternative buyers elsewhere in the media landscape.
One insider revealed to Page Six that It's not returning as a series. There have been conversations about holiday specials, but there's nothing in the works yet. Another source suggested that Meghan's substantial Instagram following represents the likely audience for her lifestyle content and hosting tips, noting that People will see similar cooking and crafting on Meghan's socials for the brand, but more bite-sized.
The Daily Mail recently revealed that Meghan could potentially release a cookbook, while sources indicated that all eyes were on the viewing figures for her Christmas special, as these would influence interest in supporting her As Ever product range at pop-up and bricks-and-mortar stores.
Personal Revelations and Family Privacy
During the second series, the Duchess opened up about her love story with Prince Harry, revealing that he was the first to say the L word and that she truly understood she was falling in love with him during their third date in Botswana. Although Prince Harry and their children Archie and Lilibet attended filming on several occasions, Harry only appeared fleetingly in the final episode of series one, while the children did not feature at all.
Meghan previously explained in an interview with People magazine that she chose not to film in their Montecito home to protect [her family's] safe haven. The show has featured appearances from top chefs including José Andrés, Roy Choi and Alice Waters, alongside close friends such as Chrissy Teigen, Mindy Kaling, and her mother, Doria Ragland.
