George Clooney has joined forces with Adam Sandler and Laura Dern in the first glimpse of Jay Kelly, the latest offering from director Noah Baumbach. The trailer, released on Tuesday, 5th August, is already generating buzz for the forthcoming comedy.
Clooney plays a celebrated actor named Jay Kelly who embarks on a European odyssey alongside his manager and friend, Ron, portrayed by Sandler. According to the film's synopsis, they 'reflect on their life choices, relationships, and legacies' during their escapade.
The ensemble cast also includes Dern as Liz, Jay's publicist; Billy Crudup as a fellow actor who didn't reach comparable stardom; Riley Keough as Jay's elder daughter; Grace Edwards as his younger child; and Stacy Keach as his father. Further roles feature Greta Gerwig as Ron's spouse, Jim Broadbent as the filmmaker who launched Jay to stardom, and Emily Mortimer, Patrick Wilson, Eve Hewson, Lenny Henry, Isla Fisher, and Jamie Demetriou in undisclosed parts.
Behind the scenes, Baumbach, known for The Squid and the Whale and Marriage Story, co-wrote the script with actress Emily Mortimer, who also stars in the film. Jay Kelly will be released in select cinemas on 14th November and on Netflix on 5th December.
