Industry Season 4 Finale: Dark Twists and Character Fates Revealed

The season 4 finale of 'Industry', titled 'Both, And', delivers one of the bleakest endings in the show's history, with no major happy endings. The episode sets the stage for season 5, which has already been renewed, promising deeper and choppier waters ahead.

Co-creator Konrad Kay described Harper's final scene as 'fun and provocative', telling Vulture: 'She’s in a house of horrors. She doesn’t know she’s in a house of horrors. She’s the final girl. Everybody’s evil.' Myha'la, who plays Harper, admitted feeling 'really depressed' upon first reading the script.

The episode begins with Harper celebrating her company's success in shorting Tender, exposing Whitney, who is now on the run. Meanwhile, Yasmin tells Henry she wants a divorce. Harper leaves a voicemail for the disgraced Eric, the only person she wants to share her success with.

Whitney calls Henry, instructing him to find a bag of money and informing him of Russian involvement in Tender. Whitney, in disguise, tells Henry they must run away together. However, when Whitney presents Henry with a new passport devoid of his titles, Henry realises he is merely leverage and refuses to flee. Kay explained that this scene crystallises the show's thesis about class consciousness.

Henry returns home to find police waiting for him. He is offered a plea deal but, armed with information about Russian involvement, wants to bring it to trial. His uncle Otto warns him of a businessman killed after making similar claims. Later, Yasmin appears to work for Henry's uncle Alexander, organising a fundraising event for right-leaning politician Stefanowicz in Paris, which Harper has been involved in.
