Netflix Announces Heartbreak High Reboot for 2022

Netflix has confirmed a reboot of the classic Australian teen drama Heartbreak High, set to premiere in 2022. The original series aired from 1994 to 1999 on Channel Ten and the ABC, tackling issues such as racism and human rights at the fictional Hartley High.

The eight-episode revival will be produced by Fremantle Australia in Sydney, alongside Dutch production company NewBe. Netflix's Director of Originals in Australia, Que Minh Luu, stated the show is 'for young people in Australia today' and also for fans of the original series.

No casting decisions have been announced yet. The original show launched the careers of actors including Ada Nicodemou (Home and Away) and Callan Mulvey (Captain America). Other notable cast members included Luke Jacobz, Lara Cox, Jeremy Lindsay Taylor, Salvatore Coco and Danny Raco.
