Prince William and Princess Kate are devoted followers of The Celebrity Traitors, the BBC's reality competition with an 8.7 IMDb rating, according to Daily Mail royal editor Rebecca English.

Speaking on the Palace Confidential YouTube show, English disclosed the couple's enthusiasm for the programme, saying: "Now, William and Catherine are massive Traitors fans. I can tell you that now. They love the programme. Absolutely glued to it."

Royal couple's TV obsession revealed

The show features celebrity participants competing in a game of deception, with some secretly designated as traitors who must mislead fellow contestants while avoiding detection. The faithful players work together to unmask the traitors before facing elimination, with shifting alliances and growing mistrust making the format a hit with audiences.

William's fondness for the series was evident during a recent royal visit to Somerset, where he met actor Ross Kemp, an ambassador for the National Emergencies Trust. The Prince attended in his role as the charity's patron to showcase new equipment for flood-affected areas.

Joke shared with Ross Kemp

Kemp is known for his appearance on The Celebrity Traitors, where his tough image has been softened by his wariness of physical contact. English revealed that William teased the actor by periodically touching him and asking: "Is it alright to touch you, Ross?" She explained the joke was an inside reference to the show, understood by viewers.

This is not the first time the couple have shared TV preferences. In a 2017 BBC Radio 1 interview, William and Kate discussed their viewing habits while promoting their Heads Together mental health initiative. William told presenter Scott Mills: "Homeland, we're big fans of that, and Game of Thrones." The couple also admitted to regularly ordering takeaways, with Kate noting they often chose curry, though William conceded spicy dishes were not his strength.

Latest elimination and new traitor

The most recent episode saw Richard E Grant eliminated, receiving the highest number of votes from fellow contestants, including traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster. Grant declared: "I am... an unfaithful traitor," and reflected: "I have been annihilated. I have managed to checkmate myself, which, as far as I'm aware, has never been done."

Instead of eliminating another player, Jama and Acaster recruited mathematician Hannah Fry as the third traitor. After accepting, Fry said: "I was sure you were Faithfuls, you absolute legends. Oh, it's going to be so fun!"
