Manchester United could be without as many as nine first-team players for Saturday's Premier League clash with Tottenham at Old Trafford, with doubts remaining over the availability of Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo.
Patrick Dorgu and Benjamin Sesko are both facing a spell on the sidelines, while the club is still assessing the fitness of several other key players.
Rashford and Mainoo doubts
Both Rashford and Mainoo withdrew from England duty for the extended September international break. The forward cited a minor injury picked up against Fulham, while the midfielder was managing his load.
Sesko also withdrew from Slovenia duty after aggravating a pre-existing shin injury, while Dorgu left Denmark's camp early after suffering a hamstring injury against Wales.
Carrick's update
Manager Michael Carrick confirmed that Rashford, Mainoo and Amad Diallo have undertaken "a little bit" of training, while summer signing Carlos Baleba appears set to make his debut after arriving from Brighton carrying an injury.
"It's been a long time since we sat here last," Carrick said as he previewed the Tottenham clash. "Patrick (Dorgu) came off and looks like he'll be out for a number of weeks. Nouss (Mazraoui) came off and took a knock. He's not quite right, so we'll see how he is.
"Carlos (Baleba) is improving, has trained a lot, Amad (Diallo), Kobbie (Mainoo) and Marcus (Rashford) have done a little bit of training. Ben (Sesko) is further away with the injury he has, so he won't be ready."
Further concerns
It remains unclear whether Matthijs de Ligt is fit enough to feature as he continues to recover from a back injury, while Tom Heaton and Karl Darlow are also said to be carrying injuries.
