Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, children of the Prince and Princess of Wales, reportedly use non-royal names while at school, according to reports. The three siblings are said to be known simply as George Wales, Charlotte Wales and Louis Wales, a nod to their parents' titles.
Royal children's school names
George, second in line to the throne, started his academic year at Eton College this year, while his siblings have continued at Lambrook School. The use of the surname Wales follows the tradition set by Prince William and Prince Harry, who used their father Charles' former title, Wales, as their surname in school.
Prior to the change, the children were known at school as George Cambridge, Charlotte Cambridge and Louis Cambridge, in line with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's titles held by their parents at the time. The Prince and Princess of Wales received their titles after Queen Elizabeth II's passing in September 2022.
Nickname for Prince George
George has already acquired a nickname at school, though it is not known if his new classmates have adopted it. His former schoolmates reportedly called him "PG", in a nod to his "Prince George" initials. Princess Catherine and Prince William are also said to call their son "PG" or "PG Tips" like the British tea brand, reports The Sun.
