Actress Sydney Sweeney is related to the original blonde bombshell herself, Marilyn Monroe. Sweeney has just discovered that she is a distant cousin of the Some Like It Hot star, one of the most recognisable Hollywood figures of all time.
Shared Ancestry Traced to 17th-Century Settler
Researchers have found that Sydney and Marilyn's fathers are both descended from Ezra Perry, a Massachusetts settler who died in 1689. Marilyn was born on 1 June 1926 and died at the age of 36 in 1962. Sydney was born 35 years later on 12 September 1997 and is currently 29, just seven years younger than her relative Marilyn was when she passed.
MyHeritage, which carried out the research, said: "People have always drawn parallels between Sydney and Marilyn Monroe. Uncovering their shared branch was incredible."
Connection Through Fathers
MyHeritage said the connection runs through Sweeney's father, Steven Sweeney, and Monroe's biological father, Charles Stanley Gifford. They confirmed and verified the relationship through historical records and genealogical research.
Fans have long compared the two actresses to each other, and many have branded Sydney as the modern-day Marilyn Monroe due to their striking similarities. The actresses are both known for their golden locks, curvy figure and successful Hollywood careers as talented A-list celebrities.
Sydney Sweeney has not publicly commented on the news of her family connection to the Gentlemen Prefer Blondes star.
