A former colleague of Sir Ranulph Fiennes has revealed the explorer once kept his identity hidden in public because he didn't want his wife to know he had left the house. Concerns have been raised about the welfare of the 82-year-old, with friends and family of Sir Ranulph making public appearances as they seek reassurance that he is safe and well.
There have reportedly been attempts to contact his wife of 21 years, Louise Millington, for clarification about his wellbeing. However, Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh said that Louise "does not want to be spoken to."
Explorer community wants to see Ran
Fellow explorer Martin Hartley appeared on the ITV programme on Friday (October 2), where he expressed concerns about Sir Ranulph.
"I am representing a community of explorers and adventurers that want to see Ran, want to see him happy. The Royal Geographic Society is having their 50th anniversary of their Explore event, where all the adventurers and the next generation of caretakers of the planet descend on the RGS, and they want to see Ran," Martin said.
"He's inspired an entire generation of people like me."
Long history of expeditions
Martin first worked with Sir Ranulph in 2005 when he was training for his Everest expedition, and once again in 2007 during his North Face of the Eiger expedition.
