Should Harry and Meghan return to the US? Poll launched

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly have no plans to sell their Montecito mansion, with reports suggesting they could return to the US at some point. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved back to the UK in August, just days after making the shock announcement.

The couple also informed King Charles of their plans only three days before the public found out, with Prince William in the know at the same time as the monarch. Meghan and Harry are now said to be living in the Cotswolds, with their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, enrolled at a local school.

Montecito mansion kept

Reports have also suggested that, whilst living in the UK, Meghan and Harry could rent out their home in California. So, should Meghan and Harry return to the US? Vote below.

Speaking to Page Six, an insider said: “No one is moving in. There are folks still maintaining the property.” If the couple are set to keep the property, this could indicate plans to leave the UK for a period of time to return to the US.

When their return to Britain was announced, it was unclear how long the family of four would be back in the UK. Meghan's latest As Ever product, which went on sale on Thursday, also appears to suggest she is missing the family's home in California, with her new £112 advert calendar "inspired" by the gardens there.

Property details

The 18,000-square-foot Californian estate is private and gated, which was seen as a major selling point at the time of their purchase, Page Six wrote. It is understood that the £14.5million mansion has nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, a swimming pool, a children's cottage, and tennis courts.

The family had been living there since they stepped away from royal life in 2020, and it is also their daughter's first home following her birth in 2021. Royal experts have also claimed that the couple are considering moving back to the US if they are denied publicly funded protection.

The couple will have their security in the UK reviewed soon, with Meghan also having her first solo review since her return to the US in 2020. Royal commentator Richard Eden is among the experts who discussed reports that the Sussexes could consider returning to California.

Discussing the topic for the Daily Mail, Eden said he considered the couple's reported ultimatum as "akin to blackmail".
