A 10-year-old girl has been left with minor injuries following a dog attack in south Wales. Police were called to reports of a dog attack near Longfellow Road in Caldicot on Tuesday evening, just before 10pm.

Incident details

The incident involved a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Boxer, police said. The staffy-type dog caused minor injury to a 10-year-old girl. Officers have said that she didn't need hospital treatment.

Local residents rushed over to assist the girl and the girl's mother during the incident. Police say their enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Police statement

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "We received a report of a dog attack near Longfellow Road, Caldicot at around 10.10pm on Tuesday, September 29.

"The incident involved two dogs – a suspected Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Boxer – and is thought to have happened at around 9.45pm that night.

"During the incident, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is believed to have caused minor injury to a 10-year-old girl.

"Officers attended following the report and enquiries are ongoing."
