Queen Camilla surprised British tennis player Arthur Fery with an unexpected visit moments before his Wimbledon quarter-final match against Italy's Flavio Cobolli on Centre Court. The 23-year-old Fery was waiting to step onto the court when the Queen Consort sneaked up behind him, shook his hand, and appeared to wish him well before also greeting Cobolli.
BBC Presenter's Reaction
BBC presenter Clare Balding, who was covering the match live, expressed her astonishment as the cameras captured the moment. "It's the Queen, right behind them. I love this!" Balding exclaimed on air. "And she's going to go and say hello to Arthur before he steps out on court! That is, as Tim (Henman) says, Arthur Fery has been able to manage everything so far as if he's been doing it his whole life. He's a very, very cool customer."
Royal Presence at Wimbledon
After the brief encounter, Queen Camilla ascended the stairs to take her seat in the Royal Box. Both players then made their way onto Centre Court, with the match commencing a few minutes later. The surprise appearance added a memorable touch to Fery's first Grand Slam quarter-final appearance.
