Prince Harry hinted at relocating his family back to the UK almost a year ago, during a conversation with British singer Joss Stone, according to reports. The Duke of Sussex, who is set to move back to Britain within days with his wife Meghan and their children, reportedly asked Stone about her own return to the country after years in Tennessee.
Conversation at WellChild Awards
People magazine reported that Harry's hint was made at the WellChild Awards last September. Stone said at the time that Harry had asked her what it was like to return to Britain after living in the US. She said: "He asked about how we were settling back in and was genuinely interested in our move home."
She added: "He was saying how wonderful the schools are here and how important community is for children." At the time, observers did not pick up on the possibility that Harry's questions were driven by his own considerations of moving his family back to his home country six years after leaving.
Planned Decision Over the Past Year
The relocation is expected to happen within the next few days. Sources have claimed the decision to move from Montecito to Britain was not made at the last minute. Instead, it is believed the family have been discussing the move for about a year, with Harry and Meghan having made the decision together.
The timing is thought to suit Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, who will start at a British school in September. Details of the move have been kept private, but it has been reported that the family have found a non-royal residence away from London. The location of their new home and the children's school will not be revealed for privacy and security reasons.
No Return to Working Royal Life
Harry and Meghan will not return to life as working royals, a duty they quit in 2020 when they left the UK for America. The family will keep their Montecito home.
