Reason Harry and Meghan's UK engagement clashed with King revealed
Why Harry and Meghan's UK event clashed with King

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's first official engagement after returning to the UK coincided with a key event for King Charles and Queen Camilla, and insiders have now explained why the two appearances overlapped.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited Nottingham on October 15, where they shook hands with fans and toured charity facilities. The same day, the King and Queen were in Cardiff for the ceremonial opening of the Welsh Parliament, the Senedd - the first time Charles attended the event since becoming King in 2022.

Shared Schedules Not Detailed Enough

According to insiders, the Sussexes' office and Buckingham Palace do share schedules, but the information exchanged is often not detailed enough to prevent clashes, reports i News.

A source close to the Sussexes said they would be happy to work around the King's calendar, but acknowledged it could be difficult to share more information about Charles' movements.

Harry's Wish for Reconciliation

The disclosure follows an open interview Harry gave to GQ in New York, in which he said he wishes to reconcile with his brother and father after the family drifted apart since he stepped away from royal duties in 2020.

Harry said: "There's sibling disagreements, there's broken relationships between kids and their parents, kids and one parent. That continues to come up with me the whole time by people that I speak to. So I know how relatable it is. That's probably why there's so much fascination."

"And then people maybe look at us and go, 'How are you going to work it out?' And then, maybe, how I see you're going to work it out, maybe that will help me work my stuff out. And some people don't want it to work out. I want it to work out."

"Again, with everything else that's going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile. That's the key point."

It has since been reported that the Sussexes are willing to apologise to the Royal household if necessary.
