Newly released photographs have exposed that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Duke of York, has installed a substantial white mobile home within the grounds of his recently acquired Norfolk retreat. This development underscores the ongoing adjustments in his living arrangements following a significant royal eviction earlier this year.
Staff Accommodation Amid Downsizing
The sizable mobile home was transported to Marsh Farm in Wolferton, located on the prestigious Royal Sandringham estate, via a large lorry and has been positioned directly in the back garden area. It is anticipated that staff members will relocate into this temporary structure because they no longer have sufficient space in the main house. This necessity arises from Andrew's forced departure from the expansive 30-room Windsor mansion, Royal Lodge, which occurred in February.
Although Marsh Farm itself offers five bedrooms, the disgraced former prince evidently requires additional room to accommodate his household personnel. In a strategic move to maintain privacy, the mobile home has been situated inside a former stable block, effectively concealing it from public view.
Renovations and Security Enhancements
This installation coincides with sightings of moving vans outside Marsh Farm, as Andrew is scheduled to move in permanently by April. Currently, he resides at Wood Farm, another property on the Sandringham estate, while Marsh Farm undergoes extensive renovations. Preparations for the transition have included the erection of new high wooden fences around the perimeter of the property.
Furthermore, workers were observed in January installing Sky TV services, comprehensive CCTV systems, and additional security measures. Earlier this week, hundreds of removal boxes marked with the initials 'HRH' were delivered to the new abode, indicating Andrew's persistent attachment to his royal styling despite his diminished status.
Art and Arrest Connections
In a related development, three large lorries from Gander & White, an art logistics company holding a royal warrant, were seen entering the estate. These vehicles are believed to be transporting fine art paintings to furnish Andrew's secluded bolthole. This activity occurs against a backdrop of legal and royal scrutiny.
King Charles accelerated Andrew's removal from Royal Lodge in February following the second release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. These files appeared to reveal the depth of Andrew's relationship with the convicted financier, prompting the King to take decisive action. Sources close to the monarch indicated he felt compelled to 'remove him from the public gaze' after being dismayed by Andrew's conspicuous daily horse rides in Windsor Great Park.
The revelations from the Epstein files led to Andrew's arrest in mid-February, coinciding with his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office. A series of emails suggested he had shared confidential documents with Epstein while serving as a trade envoy in Asia between 2010 and 2011, after Epstein had already been convicted and imprisoned for soliciting prostitution from a minor in 2008.
Recent Sightings and Family Dynamics
The discovery of the mobile home follows just days after Andrew was spotted for the first time since his release from arrest, which involved eleven hours of questioning four weeks prior. He emerged for a solitary 90-minute dog walk around Sandringham near Wood Farm last Saturday. Additionally, the no-fly zone over the royal estate has been extended to encompass Marsh Farm, which lies seven miles from the main house.
Reports suggest Andrew initially wished to remain at Wood Farm permanently, but concerns were raised that this would place him 'too close' to other family members. His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who had been living with him at Royal Lodge, also had to vacate the premises and has since found alternative accommodation in Windsor. Andrew is said to have paid only a 'peppercorn rent' at Royal Lodge after signing the lease in 2003 and funding renovations himself.
Ferguson has similarly faced controversy due to alleged connections to Epstein, with York City Council currently preparing to revoke her Freedom of the City of York honorary title. Both she and Andrew received these honours as a wedding gift during a visit to York in 1987 while still married. Andrew's title was removed in 2022 following his out-of-court settlement with accuser Virginia Giuffre.
