Prince Andrew Holidays in France Amid Scandals

Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, 65, has reportedly taken a holiday in France despite facing intense public scrutiny and legal troubles. The former Duke of York spent a weekend break in rural Brittany from May 30 to June 1, according to the Daily Mail.

Details of the Getaway

Andrew traveled on the private jet of sportswear billionaire Mohammed A Baker and stayed at a rural farm near St Malo in northwest France. The trip included activities such as horse riding on a French beach, playing boules, and enjoying meals prepared by a private chef.

French racehorse trainer Arthur Desprez, who runs an equestrian business near the farm, told the Daily Mail: “Andrew was the guest of Mohammed Baker. He stayed at his house.” A local farm worker added that Andrew was accompanied by one bodyguard during his stay and resided in the main “big house” with the billionaire, who funded the trip.

Context of Recent Events

The holiday ended just days before Andrew was spotted with a large bruise-like mark on his face back in the UK. This break is believed to be his first since he was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Andrew has not been charged and was released under investigation; he has consistently denied any wrongdoing and the accusations against him.

Andrew has largely stayed out of public view in the UK in recent months, making this trip to France notable.
