Meghan's absence from Harry's UK engagements explained

A royal source has revealed why Meghan Markle has not been seen with Prince Harry at any official engagement or public appearance since their return to the UK. Meghan has kept a low profile since moving back with her husband and their two children, aside from a couple of sightings including an evening pub trip.

Insider claims Meghan wants to 'divide and conquer'

One insider told Closer that Meghan does not want to follow Harry around like a "Stepford wife". The source said: "She's focused on the kids and her brand, and truth be told, she's not interested in following him around like some Stepford wife."

When the couple were working royals, they were rarely seen apart, but since returning to the UK six years after stepping away from royal duties, they appear to be carving out their own individual paths.

Pressure on Harry increases

The source added: "Her view is that they should divide and conquer, and Harry agrees, but it does mean a whole lot more pressure on his shoulders and absolutely zero time to himself because the moment he's free from work, he's got to rush home to give Meghan a break from parenting duties."

Meghan may 'test the waters' on Instagram

It is understood that Meghan may "test the waters" before making her first public appearance in the UK. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said the Duchess may do so by posting more on Instagram. "It would be well to keep an eye on Instagram. Meghan may well periodically test the waters there," he told the Daily Express.

"She could spring a dramatic surprise with Harry, calculating that it would give her a boost after a period of silence. Whilst Harry, so long an extra in her shows, skydives, she keeps low."

Harry's rule for a strong marriage

Prince Harry has revealed the simple rule he and Meghan follow to keep their marriage strong, insisting he tries not to spend more than 10 days away from his wife and their two children. He opened up in a new MasterClass episode, Redefining Grief: Building Resilience Through Loss. "The biggest factor for me is the energy and the joy and happiness that I get being with my family, especially our kids, and the joy and happiness I get by being on the ground for my work," he said. He added: "The key to finding the joy and happiness balance is no more than 10 days away from my wife and kids."
