Two Latvian men have been bailed after they were arrested for breaching the perimeter fence at RAF Molesworth in Cambridgeshire, the Press Association reports.
The men, aged 36 and 32, were arrested on suspicion of entering a prohibited place for a purpose prejudicial to the UK after being found inside the base at 2am on Thursday (October 8), the Metropolitan Police said.
Arrest and release
The pair, who are resident in the UK, were taken to a Cambridgeshire police station but have now been released on bail with strict conditions.
Commander Helen Flanagan, head of Counter Terrorism Policing London, said officers are still trying to “identify any potential motivation behind why the men were at that location”.
Investigation ongoing
She reiterated that the investigation has not found anything to suggest the incident is connected to events at RAF Fairford, in Gloucestershire, last month.
