The Oast House's iconic winter teepee returns on Saturday, decked out with twinkling fairy lights, roaring fires, faux fur throws and more to add to the cosy winter vibes. A special rotisserie chicken menu will be available alongside a Staropramen bar. On launch day itself, the first 450 people through the doors will get a free pint.
Free projections and Oktoberfest finale
Salford's Peel Park will see large-scale video portraits of over 1,500 local residents projected onto its walls on Friday and Saturday. Created by visual artist Matthew Rosier, the projections will be backed by a live score provided by local choirs and brass bands. Shows are free and will be held at 7.30pm and 8.45pm.
Freight Island's Oktoberfest celebrations will come to an end this weekend. Featuring a host of worldly beers, there will be drag performances, glitter-fueled live acts and oompah bands. In the daytime on Sunday, there will be more of a family setting with arts and crafts sessions, puppet making workshops and a Brothers Grimm-inspired trail. General admission is free but tickets are recommended.
Horror premieres and stage thriller
Grimmfest 2026, a big celebration of horror films, will be at the ODEON Manchester Great Northern cinema until Sunday. Over the weekend, expect UK and Northern premieres of movies like The Glorious Dead, Victorian Psycho, The Whisper, and Stronger Than The Devil. There will also be some Q&A panel discussions too.
Running at The Lowry until Saturday night is The Silence of the Lambs, starring John Partridge, Mollie Gallagher, Sam Jackson and Oliver Farnworth. The play, inspired by the 1988 horror novel and the 1991 movie, has been receiving rave reviews, with the Manchester Evening News calling it a 'doctor's appointment worth making'.
