Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to return to the US next month for the festive period, with Meghan said to be looking forward to departing the UK. The Sussexes relocated to England in August, but following Sunday Times reports suggesting the couple "know they're not going to be invited" to mark Christmas with the Royal Family, they have begun arranging their journey back to California.
Meghan 'looking forward' to California trip
Meghan is understood to be "looking forward" to travelling to California next month, with Thanksgiving falling on November 26. A source told People: "She does miss home - and her mum."
"They're planning to come back for the holidays. Meghan's looking forward to seeing her friends and making plans with them already." Meghan maintains a strong bond with her mother, Doria Ragland, who resides in the Los Angeles vicinity.
Festive plans with Doria
A friend of the Sussexes told the Sunday Times that Meghan's mother would oversee the festive arrangements. The source said: "For Thanksgiving and Christmas, they will do whatever Doria wants to do."
"They would love her to come over to the U.K. and spend it with them here, but they will be wherever she wants to be." Consequently, it's anticipated that the family, including Archie and Lilibet, will be journeying to the US before Thanksgiving on November 26.
No Christmas with the Royal Family
Despite speculation the family might spend Christmas at Sandringham with the King and relatives, the notion was swiftly dismissed by a friend. The source said: "They won't be having Christmas with the Royal Family.
"How could that even work? They know it would be too awkward and too difficult. They also know they're not going to be invited, and they're not waiting for an invitation."
Harry and Meghan last spent Christmas at Sandringham in 2018, before stepping down from their positions as senior working royals in 2020.
