Meghan Markle is set to return to acting, with sources confirming she is actively seeking a new TV role. The Duchess of Sussex is "reading a lot of scripts" as she focuses on restarting her career now that she is back in the UK.
According to insiders, Meghan's priorities are her husband, children, and her As Lifestyle brand. Public engagements, such as the upcoming ones in Nottingham, will be "relatively rare."
Netflix Talks and Script Reading
Last month, reports suggested Meghan was in discussions with Netflix to star in the third series of The Gentleman. However, sources close to the former Suits actress said the role is unlikely to materialise, as it is not the best fit for her. Talks did take place, but Meghan is actively looking for other opportunities.
"It will definitely happen," an insider said about her return to acting.
Joint Engagements in Nottingham
The news comes ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's first joint public engagements since returning to the UK. The couple will undertake three charitable engagements in Nottingham, the city where they first appeared as an engaged couple.
However, such joint appearances will not become the norm, as Harry and Meghan have "different professional priorities."
Different Professional Paths
"Prince Harry's is his philanthropic work and public service," a source told The Telegraph. "Her focus is on her family and children, followed by her business, followed by rebooting her acting career. Her public appearances will be relatively rare. She is reading a lot of scripts at the moment."
The source added that if Meghan had time left, she would do "some charity work," noting she is "not a working royal" but a full-time mother and entrepreneur.
Meghan is not rushing into any role and will spend the next few months, or longer if needed, deciding if a script feels right. Her return to the big screen is anticipated, but the exact form it will take remains to be seen.
