King Charles funded £1.8m Royal Lodge repairs

King Charles privately funded the £1.8 million repairs needed on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's former home, Royal Lodge, it has been confirmed.

Lease officially surrendered

It was announced earlier on Friday that the former Duke of York's lease on the Royal Lodge had been officially surrendered – with the Crown Estate receiving £1.5 million after £302,000 compensation he was entitled to was deducted from the £1.8 million in dilapidation costs.

The King's private funding of the repair work was confirmed as part of the announcement.
