Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing to return to the UK to make it their permanent home once more. The royal couple will be moving back to Britain with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, and are said to have already found a non-royal residence outside of London.
Their two children are expected to start school in the UK within weeks. Both King Charles and Prince William have been informed of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's plans at the same time.
William and Kate's Stance
William and Kate are reportedly determined not to be drawn into the "drama" surrounding Meghan and Harry. Friends of the Prince and Princess of Wales have indicated that while they "cannot forgive" the Sussexes for their hurtful accusations against the Firm, they are focused on looking "forward to the future".
Meghan and Harry stepped down from their roles as senior working royals in 2020 and relocated their family to Montecito in California. At the time, Prince William was said to be "intensely saddened" by his brother's decision to leave the Firm.
Kate's Reaction to Their Departure
Kate, however, was less interested in persuading Harry to remain in the UK as a working royal. She described his and Meghan's decision as "inevitable".
As Harry and Meghan built a new life across the Atlantic, participating in tell-all interviews such as their high-profile chat with Oprah Winfrey and publishing Harry's memoir, Spare, Kate increasingly felt they were "not to be trusted", according to William and Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story by The Mirror's royal editor Russell Myers.
Growing Rift
The book also details how Kate believed Harry would want more than being a "bit-part player" in the monarchy, amid his fundamental differences with her husband.
In further revelations, the future queen eventually realised she "could do no more to bring the brothers together" - despite previously being a "voice of reason" throughout the disintegration of their relationship.
The first joint biography in more than a decade also reveals that initially, Kate had been willing to give Meghan a chance when she was first introduced to her. However, following Harry and Meghan's wedding, she and William felt the Sussexes "had an agenda", with their behaviour going beyond just being "difficult".
