Kensington Palace has confirmed that Prince George, second in line to the throne, will attend Eton College from September, following in the footsteps of his father, Prince William, and uncle, Prince Harry. George began his education at Thomas's Battersea before moving to Lambrook School in Windsor with his siblings.
Eton College, located near Windsor Castle, has educated many notable figures, including actors and former prime ministers. While his grandfather, King Charles, attended Gordonstoun, George will continue a modern royal tradition at Eton.
Looking ahead, royal watchers speculate whether George will follow another family tradition by attending the University of St Andrews, where William met his wife, Kate. St Andrews is currently ranked fourth in the UK by the Complete University Guide.
The late Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret were educated at home by Marion Crawford, the last royals to receive such an education. King Charles attended Hill House School, Cheam School, and Gordonstoun, where he passed six O-levels, before studying at Cambridge and earning a 2:2 degree in 1970.
Prince William attended Eton, achieving A-levels in geography, biology, and history of art, and 12 GCSEs. After a gap year, he graduated from St Andrews with a 2:1 in geography. Prince Harry also attended Eton but chose not to go to university, instead training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and serving in the Army for ten years.
Kate Middleton, now Princess of Wales, studied at Marlborough College before meeting William at St Andrews. Marlborough College ranks in the top 50 boarding schools in the UK, while Eton consistently ranks in the top 10 private schools based on GCSE and A-level results.
