Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared as though they had "never been away from the UK" during their recent return to Nottingham, according to body language expert Darren Stanton. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex showed no signs of nervousness as they stepped out together, despite the years spent living in America.
Natural Return to Royal Roles
Speaking to Betfair Casino, Stanton said: "Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seemed very at ease in Nottingham. It was almost like they’d never been away from the UK, despite all the years they spent living in America."
"The duo are almost like a duck to water because they seemed so natural. They’re back in the flow, and both of them displayed no issues with nervousness and no confidence hiccups," he added.
Protective Gestures Noted
The expert highlighted the couple's genuine enjoyment in meeting the crowds, saying both Harry and Meghan love interacting with the public. However, it was the subtle interactions between the husband and wife that caught Stanton's eye, pointing out Harry's strong instinct to shield his wife.
"In terms of how they interacted together, they were standing very close and displayed prolonged eye contact. Both Harry and Meghan are on the same page," Stanton said.
"Harry was in protective mode as he’s holding her hand. There was no aloofness between them; everything seemed just as it was before," he added, noting Harry could be seen "glancing back every now and again to check that Meghan is okay".
Meghan's Confident Crowd Work
Meghan proved she was more than capable of holding her own, appearing confident and self-assured. "Once they separate, Meghan is very good at working the crowd," Stanton said, adding that her interactions showed true warmth rather than "socially polite or slightly forced smiles".
"Her whole face is engaged, and her feet remain close together, which adds to the impression that she's comfortable and focused on the people she's speaking to," he concluded.
