Will Best brings Dianne Buswell to tears with emotional admission

Strictly Come Dancing star Will Best brought Dianne Buswell to tears after an emotional admission about becoming a father for the first time. During Icons Week on the BBC dancefloor, the last couple of the night, Will and Dianne, prepared to take on the ballroom when things took an emotional turn.

Will Best's journey to fatherhood

Will Best has been in a relationship with his fiancée, Tobi Rose, for almost 15 years, and he asked the stylist to marry him during a romantic getaway to Italy in 2024. He made the announcement among a series of snaps from a holiday to Sicily, rehearsing for his stint in the dancing competition and other glimpses at his life over the past few weeks in his "summer dump". One of the photos, a mirror selfie, showed Will alongside his fiancée with his hand on her growing baby bump, which he captioned: "Baby, Will?!"

The presenter was flooded with support as just a few days prior to the next live show he announced the birth of his son, Sonny Best. The new dad proudly showed off his newborn in a carousel of photos, which opened with a video of the broadcaster jokingly showing off a "really cool new thing I got today" before panning the camera to reveal his son. He also included several sweet snaps of himself and Tobi cradling their son, along with a photo of Sonny in a car seat carrier covered in a pastel yellow blanket with the word "lovely" embroidered on it.

In the caption, Will wrote: "Well who do we have here then?! Welcome to the world Sonny Best, you little smasher. @tobiroseofficial you're a miracle and I love you so much. A couple of tired new parents (see last slide) but oh my goodness aren't we lucky."

Emotional moment on the dancefloor

On Saturday (October 17) night, Will and Dianne were the last couple to dance and hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe were quick to make reference to Will's new family member. As Shirley Ballas offered a tiny pair of shoes, Craig Revel Horwood a tiny "1" paddle, Emma picked up a tiny violin for Will when he complains about being tired.

The videotape of rehearsals then rolled, and as Will shared the good news with Dianne things quickly became emotional as the professional dancer herself has recently become a mum. Dianne told Will: "You will feel tired, but it's like a magical tired. You're tired from the exhaustion of loving them so much."

Will then tugged at heartstrings as he admitted: "I'm going to get emotional," he went on to praise Dianne, adding: "You're inspirational. You are doing all of this, and you've got a baby and clearly the most amazing mum, so I want to try and learn from you." As she wiped away tears, the 37-year-old responded: "Well, you're going to be the most amazing dad and all I can say is we can do it together."
