Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are making their first official joint UK appearance since relocating to Britain in August. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will step out in Nottingham today for three charitable engagements, according to the couple's team.

While the Duke has made several public appearances since the family moved back to the UK, Meghan has not. The Duchess has only been seen in a private capacity, such as driving her car or going for pub lunches in the Cotswolds.

Three engagements in Nottingham

The couple's visit includes a stop at The Community Recording Studio (CRS) in St Ann's, which was originally set up to give young people access to music and recording facilities. The Duke has visited the studio before. They will then visit two other charities that help the Nottingham community in various ways.

These are charitable engagements that have nothing to do with the Royal Family, as Harry and Meghan are not working royals despite their return to the UK. It is not known whether the couple will have time for a quick public walkabout.

Mixed public reaction

Since they quit royal life in 2020 and moved to the US, their popularity in Britain has been low. Despite this, they still have plenty of UK fans who may enjoy seeing them make public visits together again.

This first appearance in Nottingham could be used as a test run for the couple. If it goes well, it could see them make similar appearances elsewhere in the UK, including events in London, charitable occasions, and especially Harry's Invictus Games in Birmingham next year. It is unlikely they will bring their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, to busy public events.

Recent private outings

Although today is the first official public appearance together since they moved back this year, it is not the first time they have been out together in Britain. Just a few weeks ago, the duke and duchess were seen walking into a pub together hand-in-hand.

Meghan has also shared videos and photographs of the family's time in the UK since moving back in the summer. This included a clip of her and Harry on a walk in the British countryside, as well as clips of Archie and Lilibet running and cycling, and the family enjoying a day fishing together. One video showed Lilibet's feet in front of a cosy log fire.
