Harry and Meghan 'delighted' with UK return despite 'humble pie'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly very happy with their return to Britain, despite being served a “dose of humble pie” over their relocation. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved back to the UK in a surprising U-turn, six years after leaving the country.

The couple now live in the Cotswolds with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who have already been enrolled in British schools. Last week, the Sussexes were seen enjoying a cosy date, having a traditional pub lunch somewhere in Oxfordshire.

Rare glimpse into their UK life

Despite their busy schedules, Harry and Meghan have kept a relatively low profile since returning. They were only pictured together once, enjoying a pub meal in the Cotswolds last week. Now sources close to them have given a rare glimpse into their lives in the UK.

A friend told the Daily Mail: “They [Harry and Meghan] are all really happy with how things are going, with the children at school, with where they are living, and with being in Britain.”

“The place where they are staying is perfectly private and they couldn’t be happier with that. Things are going well with Harry’s family as well, but nothing more to be said there.”

Security and 'humble pie'

The pal added that the couple are “optimistic” that their security will be revised soon and that it’s “all good”. The source said: “Both Harry and Meghan are really delighted with the return. The relocation to the UK is being served with a dose of humble pie, though.”

Harry and Meghan are “concerned” about how they are perceived in the UK and have been very “deliberate” in how they behave. The source explained: “They think that if they start posting stuff on Instagram, it will land badly. It is part of a thought-out plan to keep their heads down between now and Christmas, when they will go back to California for the holidays. They don’t want to shove themselves down people’s throats.”

Popularity plunge

The Sussexes saw their popularity plunge after quitting the Royal Family in 2020. Last July, a YouGov survey placed Meghan in the second-lowest spot, only surpassing the disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

The survey revealed that only 22% of Britons see Meghan in a positive light, compared with two-thirds (65%) who hold an unfavourable opinion of the former Suits actress. Her husband, on the other hand, saw a rare boost, with his favourability rising. A third of Britons (33%) said they now see him favourably, up six points since May 2025, while the proportion with a negative view of the Duke fell five points over this period to 58%.
