GB News Halts Segment for Royal Arrival at Ascot

GB News was forced to break away from a pre-recorded segment on Ladies' Day fashion as King Charles and Queen Camilla prepared to arrive at Ascot Racecourse on Thursday. The royal couple have attended for the past three days of Royal Ascot.

Broadcasting live from Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire, GB News presenter Cameron Walker delivered his report, noting the royal family's presence. "The King and Queen, of course, are expected to be here later today and the royal procession at two o'clock," Walker began. "We think the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are here as well, they're going to be presenting a trophy a little bit later on."

Walker also commented on the King and Queen's racing fortunes: "Is it going to be third time lucky for the King and Queen, though, because on Tuesday their horse, Reaching High, was last in the race. Yesterday, their second horse didn't do much better." He added that another of their horses, Golden Orbit, will compete today.

Reflecting on the royal family's passion for horse racing, Walker remarked: "Clearly, horse racing and horse breeding run in the blood of the Royal Family. Of course, Queen Elizabeth II was a huge racing fan and bred a number of racehorses throughout her life. She hardly missed any Royal Ascot meeting days throughout her 70-year reign, actually, and clearly King Charles and Queen Camilla are keeping up with that tradition."

While Walker awaited the King and Queen's entrance, GB News aired footage from day two of last year's Royal Ascot. It has been a hectic week for the couple, with Charles and Camilla attending for the past three days. Accompanied by several members of the Royal Family, fans were thrilled to witness Princess Catherine's return on Wednesday, marking her comeback after a two-year absence from the annual occasion. She was joined by her husband, Prince William.

Additional royals present included the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, Sir Timothy Laurence, Lady Gabriella Windsor and Lady Sarah Chatto. Conspicuously missing from this year's Ascot were Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, who have maintained a relatively quiet presence in recent months. Last week, supporters observed that the sisters had attended a friend's wedding in Austria, choosing to skip this year's Trooping the Colour celebrations.
