EastEnders villain Craig Ingram spots a sinister opportunity next week when he learns that Amy Mitchell is about to come into an inheritance, and he pressures her to flee Walford with him.
Craig, played by Matthew James Bailey, has been manipulating Amy (Ellie Dadd) for weeks, convincing her that he lost his police career while protecting her. In truth, he was dismissed for gross misconduct after harassing a young female officer who rejected his advances – his second such offence.
Jack intervenes as Amy skips school
Last week, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) stepped in after learning Amy had been skipping classes to spend time with Craig. Jack put her lack of motivation down to step-mum Denise Fox's (Diane Parish) cancer battle, and the pair had a heart-to-heart.
But back at his flat, Craig was furious. When Amy invited friends over, he took particular issue with Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega), who has been vying for Amy's affection. Craig forced her to hand over her phone, and when he found a half-naked picture of Denzel, his anger grew – though he appeared placated by her explanation, his resentment toward Denzel continued to build underneath.
Inheritance plan and a desperate escape
Next week, Craig's interest turns to money when he learns about the inheritance Amy is due. With drama surrounding her, she agrees to leave Walford with him.
In the days that follow, Amy clashes with Jack again and decides she needs a fresh start sooner rather than later. She begins looking into accessing the inheritance funds early, but a major roadblock stands in her way.
As Craig pressures her, Amy grows increasingly desperate to escape the Square. Whether she can get her hands on the money – and whether her family will ever see her again – remains to be seen.
EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 19th October at 7.30pm on BBC One, or streams first from 6am on iPlayer.
