Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Duke of York, has been photographed horse-riding on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, just months after he was reportedly banned from the activity. The disgraced royal, who has been living in exile since February, was seen wearing a blue shirt and dark trousers in images published by The Sun.
Horses Sent on 'Short Loan' from Windsor
According to the outlet, the horses were sent from Windsor by King Charles III and are on a "short loan." A source told The Sun that Andrew is "bored rigid" at his new home and that even a few days with his horse is a welcome relief. "He was regularly riding when he lived in Windsor, as it gave him a chance to get outside," the source added.
Ban Imposed Over 'Bad Look' During Scandal
The ban on horse-riding was reportedly imposed earlier this year after the royal family became concerned about photographs of Andrew grinning on his horse while the Epstein scandal unfolded. A source previously said: "Since his arrest last week, he has been ordered not to go horse riding. It’s considered a bad look. They don’t think he should be seen grinning and smiling on his horse like he was in Windsor. But it was one of the few things he actually enjoyed doing so what on earth is he going to do with his time?"
Arrest and Public Appearance
Andrew was arrested on his birthday, February 19, on suspicion of misconduct in public office and was released after 11 hours in custody. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing. Last month, he made his first public appearance since the scandal erupted, attending the Sandringham Horse Driving Trials alongside Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie.
