Richard E Grant's time on Celebrity Traitors is over, making history as the first Traitor to be banished at the first Round Table. He admitted he had managed to "check mate" himself in a spectacular show first.
His replacement in the turret, Professor Hannah Fry, appears to have adopted her predecessor's bungling attitude to the game, making a series of errors in her first hours wearing the green cloak. Miranda Hart has turned Miss Marple and appears to have rumbled her already.
Myha'la's Exit and the Cliffhanger
As the episode ended, teary Industry star Myha'la was banished after her wink to Richard sealed her fate, at least in the eyes of Julie Hesmondhalgh. The series left with yet another cliffhanger, as the Traitors plotted to murder again, marking out James Blunt, Bella Ramsey and Sebastian Croft.
Speaking after her exit, Myha'la said in an 'alternate universe' she could have easily won the show with Richard E. Grant. She said: "I'm annoyed that Richard couldn't stay in because I feel like he could have brought me to the turret and I would have let him win. I would have gladly led him to glory! There’s an alternate universe in which he and I get to the final."
Miranda Hart's Suspicions and Hannah Fry's Stress
Miranda Hart took her eyes away from James Blunt and his battering ram antics long enough to see that Hannah Fry changed her personality overnight after being made a Traitor. Comedian Miranda found herself rather taken with the way former army captain Blunt took charge in the latest mission. "I liked it very much. I found it very erotic, I won't lie," she confessed.
Thankfully, she pulled herself together enough to clock that her castle bestie Hannah was a nervous, anxious wreck on the day she should have been in a state of relief after not being murdered. As her suspicions grew, the episode ended with Miranda saying she was totally certain the professor had been recruited.
Hannah Fry revealed exactly how stressful she found her new role as recruited Traitor. The professor was spotted wearing a white smart ring during Thursday night's episode which provided some alarming insight into her first hours on the job. Sharing an image of her results, Hannah revealed she was at peak stress for two hours and thirty minutes - with the graph reaching at peak during the second round table.
Richard's Reaction and the Traitors' Plans
Richard fully accepted that he was the architect of his own downfall. "It was a completely catastrophically idiotic thing to do! I can only imagine the faces of the producers looking at each other and mouthing ‘he said WHAT?!’" He added: "I have managed to checkmate myself which as far as I’m aware has never been done."
Speaking on spin-off show The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, Grant said of his fellow Traitors voting to banish him: "I thought Maya would definitely stab me because I put her in an untenable position so I perfectly understood. I was so convinced by James Acaster’s determination not to kill me off when he gave his big plea in the church after Amol, I naively thought, ‘Oh well, maybe James, because he’s so trustworthy, he would come through for me.’ Not one word came out of James’s mouth to support me."
After seducing Hannah to join them in the turret, the new trio of traitors discussed how to approach the round table the following morning. Acaster delivered the great line: "It's changing a lot, this Traitors," he said of the line-up. "It's like the Sugababes."
