Oliver Tree's body has been returned to the United States following the 32-year-old singer-songwriter's sudden death in a helicopter crash in Brazil. The artist, known for hits such as Life Goes On and Miss You, was among six people killed when two helicopters collided near Rio de Janeiro on June 14. A spokesperson confirmed via Tree's Instagram account that his body is now back in California, where he can finally rest.
Family Honors Final Wish
The statement also revealed that Tree's family will carry out his final wish by establishing a foundation in his name. The post read: 'His legacy will live on through his foundation/endowment named "Dr. Oliver Tree's Extremely Epic Grant For Baby Geniuses" coming soon. This is something that Oliver had put together before his passing, written in his will. We will make sure his wish comes to fruition so that more joy, love and art can be spread into the world, that was his final wish.'
In April, Tree discussed his desire to give away his wealth after his death. On The Zach Sang Show, he said: 'When I die – I've set it up – my will is set up that when I pass, my family, no one's going to get a penny. If I have a wife or kids or anything, [they're] not getting a penny. I'll get my kids through college – that's the agreement. But there's not going to be a silver spoon… The idea is, when I die, all the money is going to go back to artists.'
Outpouring of Support
The spokesperson thanked fans for their ongoing support, adding: 'Thank you to everyone who has reached out, shown love, support and has done incredible tributes for Oliver. The constant love, support and positivity is helping the family, friends and collaborators make it through these extremely difficult times. Love you all so much, Oliver would be so proud of every one of his supporters, friends and family. Peace be with Oliver.'
Friends and collaborators, including Diplo and KSI, paid tribute to Tree following his death. The crash, which occurred on June 14, is under investigation. Local outlet Metróples reported that Tree was in one helicopter with passengers Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, and Lucas Brito Chaves, piloted by Alexandre Souza. The other helicopter was piloted solely by Charles Marsillac. Prim, also known as YouTuber Gaspi, was 23.
