Reality TV favourite Maura Higgins has sent a spine-tingling warning to her new competitors as she joins the cast of The Traitors US. The Love Island star, who rose to fame on the hit dating show in 2019, shared a teaser clip ahead of the new season's launch today, the 8th of January 2026.
A Traitor's Ambition
In the dramatic preview, Maura sports a striking latex catsuit and a cape, leaving little doubt about her desired role. "Well, I'm starting off wearing a cape. So... I'm hoping I'm a Traitor and I hope to kill everyone one by one," she declares with a mischievous glint.
She continues, outlining her no-nonsense approach to the game's infamous round table discussions: "If someone comes for me at the round table, God love them. Sounds a bit traitor-y to me. I speak my mind. I'm not really a shadow kind of girl." Laughing at her own ominous statement, she added, "That sounded really devious, didn't it?"
Fans Back Their 'Queen'
Her followers on social media were quick to rally behind her bold strategy. One fan declared she was "made for this," while another wished her luck, advising her to "have a blast & watch your back" whether she ends up a Faithful or a Traitor. A third supporter confidently stated, "Our Queen will run that castle."
Hollywood Calling After Film Debut
Maura's foray into the treacherous world of The Traitors comes hot on the heels of exciting career news. Her debut film performance is reportedly turning heads, with whispers of a potential move to Hollywood.
She plays Rose in the Irish feel-good comedy The Spin, a story about two friends racing across Ireland to save their record store. A source told The Mirror that her performance was the talk of a recent screening, sparking conversations with major US executives about future roles.
"Everyone was talking about Maura and how great she was. She can act and people were impressed," the source revealed. "There were a lot of important people from the film world in that room and conversations were taking place about what she does next."
The film's director, Michael Head, was full of praise for the reality star-turned-actress. "Maura was thrown in the deep end, but she was brilliant," he said. "She didn't have an ego and took direction well... I think she's got the potential to be a fantastic actress." He even tipped her for a Hollywood blockbuster, citing her Irish wit and stunning screen presence.
Since her 2019 Love Island stint, Maura has built a formidable career, including appearances on Dancing On Ice and hosting duties on the Irish version of Glow Up. Now, with The Traitors US launching and a promising film career taking off, her star continues to rise on both sides of the Atlantic.
