Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) has survived her shooting in Coronation Street and is now using the incident to tighten her grip on David and Shona Platt (Jack P Shepherd and Julia Goulding).
In Wednesday's episode, Jodie's plan to take over Shona's life unravelled when her sister and David tricked her into revealing her true feelings about them. As her desperation grew, Jodie pulled a gun on the couple, but they believed it was a fake. Shona tried to grab the weapon, and during the struggle it went off, leaving Jodie shot.
Jodie survives and turns the tables
Jodie was rushed to hospital and ultimately survived her injuries. While she was in theatre, Shona and David panicked about what to tell the police. David grew confident in their cover story, certain that without the gun, Jodie couldn't prove her version of events.
In the hospital room, Jodie told Shona she knows her sister intended to kill her. She then offered to go along with the cover story — but on one condition: if they didn't do what she wanted, she'd tell the police she was blackmailed into keeping quiet.
Jodie's warning and dark side
'You don't control this, I do,' Jodie warned. 'I decide what happens from now on.'
Jodie's unhinged but incredibly smart behaviour means she knows she's holding all the power right now, and she intends to take advantage of it.
'When pushed, you just don't know what she's capable of,' star Olivia Frances-Brown said. 'She has a lot of dark secrets, she's seen a lot and she has a genuinely sinister side to her. She's driven herself completely crazy with this huge fantasy. It's not rooted in reality anymore, she's completely lost her marbles.'
Revenge and desperation
The actress added: 'She loves her sister, but she wishes Shona had treated her differently throughout her life. There's a deep need to get her own back and have some sort of revenge.'
'As much as she cares about their relationship, she's willing to do whatever it takes to get the happiness she feels she deserves.'
