As the final of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! approaches, a shocking behind-the-scenes revelation has emerged about a terrifying storm that forced the evacuation of the camp, an event viewers never saw on screen.
The Chaotic Storm That Shook The Camp
Kemi Rogers, the co-host of the show's companion programme I'm A Celebrity Unpacked alongside Joel Dommett, has described the alarming incident. Speaking to The Sun, Rogers revealed that a severe storm caused significant disruption during the series, which began on 19 November and concludes on 7 December.
"We had a really windy day, I mean, this week has just been chaos," Rogers explained. "There was a really windy day where the trees were really creaking and I was like, 'Oh my goodness, the branches are falling down'." She added that the force of the storm brought trees down, creating a scene of havoc that was difficult for the audience at home to comprehend.
Celebrities Evacuated For Safety
The situation became so dangerous that the show's stringent health and safety protocols were activated. According to a source speaking to The Daily Mail, the celebrities were immediately evacuated from the main camp area and moved to the safer confines of the Bush Telegraph hut to wait out the tempest.
This emergency measure delayed filming by approximately three hours. Rogers admitted the experience was unsettling, prompting her to question her safety despite the production team's precautions. "You have to continue making a TV show and it's like, 'Is everything fine? Are we safe?' Of course, we are safe, but, you know, you just get panicky," she confessed.
ITV's Response And The Final Stretch
An ITV spokesperson addressed the incident, telling The Mirror: "Production has contingencies in place for all weather scenarios, the health and safety of our campmates is always our number one priority." This statement underscores the established procedures for such events in the unpredictable Australian jungle environment.
The dramatic series is now heading towards its climax on Sunday, 7 December, where either Ruby Wax, Tom Read Wilson, Angry Ginge, Aitch, Jack Osbourne, Lisa Riley, Shona McGarty or Martin Kemp will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle. They remain after the departures of Kelly Brook, Vogue Williams, Eddie Kadi, Alex Scott, and one more contestant following the episode on 3 December.
While the on-screen trials and tribulations have captivated audiences, this unseen storm drama highlights the very real challenges and quick thinking required to produce the hit ITV show, ensuring the wellbeing of its famous participants above all else.
