Chaos has erupted in the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! camp as the celebrities were forced into an emergency evacuation following a severe storm that brought flash flooding to the Australian jungle.
Jungle Storm Causes Dramatic Evacuation
The campmates faced a dramatic 24 hours after the Queensland Bureau of Meteorology issued a warning for a 'very dangerous storm' producing giant hailstones, destructive winds, and heavy rainfall causing flash flooding. In an extremely rare move, all twelve contestants were evacuated from their camp to the only available shelter - the tiny Bush Telegraph hut where the show's talking-head segments are filmed.
A source revealed the difficult conditions the stars endured: 'With all twelve contestants in there, it would have been very, very uncomfortable. Plus they were all drenched. It couldn't have got any worse.' The campmates' belongings were completely soaked through, forcing them to spend Monday afternoon attempting to dry everything using the campfire.
New Dangers and Punishments Loom
As if the weather wasn't challenging enough, producers have warned that the wet conditions will bring out leeches and biting insects, potentially creating tension in what has been a relatively harmonious camp until now. The source added: 'It's going to be very grim indeed. After what has seemed quite a harmonious camp, we expect it to get a little fraught from now on.'
Meanwhile, the camp faced additional turmoil after Alex Scott was caught smuggling contraband. In punishment, jungle executives informed the campmates they had lost a star won by Aitch in that day's Bushtucker Trial. Campmates were offered a contraband amnesty to surrender all smuggled goods without further punishment, with dinner being withheld until the situation was resolved. An insider suggested there might be more than one smuggler among the group.
Most Terrifying Trial Yet Awaits
In what promises to test the celebrities' morale further, I'm A Celeb bosses have devised one of the most terrifying Bushtucker Trials ever, set to take place at night. Four celebrities will face 'Bugtime Stories' this week to win treats for camp, with sources describing it as 'probably one of the most sickest trials ever'.
The timing couldn't be worse for the celebrities, who traditionally begin struggling around this point being away from friends and family. A source confirmed: 'The other trials up until this moment will be seen as a walk in the park compared to this one. Last year's Frightbus was widely considered to be the worst trial yet... Bosses are expecting this one to easily eclipse that level of fear.'
With only one week of the show completed, the combination of severe weather, contraband scandals, and increasingly difficult challenges suggests the celebrities face their most testing period yet in the jungle.
