Robert Sugden's plan to double stolen money in a high-stakes poker game goes awry in Emmerdale, as the £100k winnings vanish minutes after the game ends, prompting Aaron Dingle and Sarah Sugden to hunt the thief.
Robert (Ryan Hawley) had found and pocketed £150k that Jimmy King (Nick Miles) had stashed in his golf locker, after working out the secret mastermind's hiding spot. Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) was furious after Robert welshed on their deal to split the cash, but it was Robert's plan all along.
Robert's risky poker game
Robert then enacted the rest of his plan – buying the Hide and making the money work for him so he could buy even more. He opted for a high-stakes poker game as his money-making method, rallying the locals and backing himself as a card expert.
Among his opponents was Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson), who had previously surprised everyone by revealing herself as a skilled card player. The game went ahead and someone did win big – but the winner was just as careless with the cash, and the £100k winnings went missing within minutes of the game ending.
Aaron and Sarah investigate
The disappearance became an issue among the scorned players, and a list of suspects was quickly drawn up. Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) took it upon themselves to shake down the suspects, interrogating the accused and finding their guilty party.
The person who has the money has a big reason for taking it, and it's not what anyone expects. Whether it's Sadie King or someone else out to do Robert over remains to be seen.
