Big Brother hit with hundreds more Ofcom complaints after heated scenes
Big Brother hit with hundreds more Ofcom complaints

ITV's Big Brother has received hundreds more complaints to Ofcom, with 1,065 made in the week between Tuesday 6 October and Monday 12 October. The highest number, 579, related to the episode on October 6, which focused on Rochelle and Pauline's behaviour.

Complainants also questioned Big Brother's perceived inconsistent handling of conflict between housemates. In that episode, face-to-face nominations ended in a row after Rob and Pauline were announced as facing the public vote. Newcomer Catrin was left in tears over her interaction with Pauline before Rochelle confronted her co-star, with fellow housemates forced to intervene. Big Brother also separated Pauline from the housemates as she slept in the Snug.

Formal warning issued

The episode on October 7 received the second highest number of complaints, with 373. It showed the aftermath of the fallout, with Pauline receiving an official warning from Big Brother. Big Brother told Pauline: "Big Brother deemed your tone and body language to be unacceptable. As a result, Big Brother is giving you a formal warning." These complaints again related to Pauline and Rochelle's behaviour, with complainants questioning the show's perceived inconsistent handling of conflict.

Following the heated scenes, fans took to social media to share their frustrations. One person said: "someone give me the number for ofcom right now." Another wrote: "This deserves so many ofcom complaints, all Pauline did was stay to herself."

Omar complaints

During the episode on October 11, 60 complaints were made relating to Omar's alleged behaviour towards Rhianna. The episode saw Gemma Collins enter the Big Brother house for 48 hours, but it was Omar who faced scrutiny from fans. He told Rhianna: "You annoyed me today," and shared his frustrations over her previously saying please to Lynx, adding: "Maybe it's me who is mad strict or I don't know. I don't want to tell you how to be and that."

Omar later added: "I'm not here to control you, I'm not here to teach you how to respect a man," before Rhianna defended her actions and was seen walking away in tears. A total of 53 complaints were made on October 12 relating to Omar's comments about housemates' appearances, with other complaints about alleged bullying involving Rochelle and Yasmin.

ITV has been approached for comment. Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
