Charlotte Church, who starred on Celebrity Traitors last year, has been forced to shut down her business just three years after pouring her life savings into the venture. The 40-year-old, who shot to stardom as a child actress before embarking on a successful music career that has sold over 10 million records worldwide, has admitted she is no longer a millionaire.
At the height of her fortune, the Crazy Chick star was said to be worth £25 million. In a devastating blow, Charlotte announced that she will be closing her Welsh healing retreat, The Dreaming.
Retreat closure announced
She opened the wellness centre at Rhydoldog House, which was once the home of fashion designer Laura Ashley, and bought the property for around £1.5 million in 2023. Charlotte released a statement announcing that the retreat would soon close its doors.
The statement read: "Dear Dreamers, after five years of unfaltering practice, tending with diligence to the dreams of the land and our guests, we announce with hearts-a-brim that The Dreaming will be pausing its work at Rhydoldog from December 2026."
Statement on the pause
It continued: "Through the harvest season, it is important to discern what requires attention from that which is falling away, what needs to be put to compost. We need the chance to compost, mulch, go fallow, listen deeply to the earth, so that we can germinate new dreams for the future."
She added: "And so we must dream. And to do so, we must hibernate. We cannot say when exactly we will be returning from the dream realm, but return we shall."
This Morning appearance and financial admission
Charlotte famously gave fans a glimpse of what the wellness centre had to offer during an unforgettable 2024 appearance on This Morning. During the live segment, the singer and her husband, Jonathan Powell, tried to lead presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary through a serene, two-minute meditative sound bath, but as Charlotte began singing, Alison broke out into muffled laughter.
While lying on the cushioned ground, the presenter struggled to contain her nervous giggles and quickly went viral across social media, despite Charlotte's attempts to promote her new venture.
The closure of her wellness centre comes after the singer admitted that her finances weren't anywhere near what they had been, telling Closer magazine in 2024: "I am not a millionaire anymore." Two years ago, Charlotte sold off her beloved mansion, The Spinney, and was forced to "massively downsize" after making a near-£1 million profit following a Grand Designs-esque makeover.
