Prosecutors in Utah have decided not to file domestic abuse charges against Taylor Frankie Paul, a star of the reality show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, following allegations from her former partner Dakota Mortensen.
The Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office said on Tuesday that some alleged misdemeanours occurred more than two years ago and fell outside the statute of limitations. Other incidents did not meet the threshold for criminal offences, and the remaining allegations lacked sufficient evidence or corroboration.
Paul, 31, celebrated the news on social media, posting a photo of flowers and writing: “Cried when I got the call” and “THANK YOU to those that have stood with me.” Multiple attorneys reviewed the case due to Paul's high profile, the office noted.
Paul was previously charged with aggravated assault and other offences after leaked footage showed her throwing metal chairs at Mortensen in 2023, with her daughter present. She pleaded guilty to assault and is serving a three-year probation sentence.
The couple, who have a two-year-old son, have filed temporary protective orders against each other and are contesting custody in court. The fifth season of their reality show was paused during the investigations.
