Zeta-Jones Tributes Bonnie Tyler with Family Connection

Oscar-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has paid an emotional tribute to singer Bonnie Tyler, who died this week at age 73. The Swansea-born star took to Instagram to express her heartbreak and reveal a surprising family connection: Tyler was married to Zeta-Jones's cousin.

Tribute Reveals Family Ties

Zeta-Jones posted a photo of herself with Tyler from the night before her wedding to Michael Douglas in 2000. She wrote: "My heart is broken with the news that our dearest Bonnie Tyler has passed away. Bonnie was married to my cousin and has been such a part of my life."

The actress recalled how Tyler sang at her wedding, adding: "We are photographed here together the night before my wedding. She sang and rocked it at my wedding."

Remembering a Unique Talent

Zeta-Jones praised Tyler's extraordinary voice and humor, stating: "An extraordinary woman with vocals to match. A one of a kind artist, who so easily could have been a comedian because she was one of the funniest people I ever met."

She concluded: "Thank you Bonnie for the joy you brought so many. Sleep tight beautiful lady. We shall forever 'Keep A Welcome In The Hillsides' of Wales for you. Sending my love to Robert and the family. God Bless."

Bonnie Tyler's Final Days

The Neath-born singer, known for hits like Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding Out for a Hero, was placed in an induced coma in early May after emergency surgery. She died unexpectedly at a hospital in Portugal. A statement on her website read: "Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for."

Her family requested privacy as they come to terms with the tragedy. Tyler's team had previously confirmed she was out of a coma but remained seriously ill in intensive care. On June 15, they canceled all upcoming shows but hoped autumn performances would proceed.
