Netflix Issues Viewer Warning for 'Disturbing' P Diddy Documentary
Netflix's P Diddy doc warns of 'disturbing' scenes

Netflix has placed a prominent warning at the start of its explosive new documentary series examining the life of music mogul Sean 'P Diddy' Combs. The four-part series, titled 'Sean Combs: The Reckoning', delves into his rise to hip-hop fame and the serious allegations that have shadowed his career.

Content Warning for 'Disturbing' Material

Before the first episode begins, the streaming service displays a clear advisory to its audience. The statement reads: "The following series contains descriptions of domestic and sexual violence, which may be disturbing for some viewers." This caution appears to be well-founded, as early reactions from viewers on social media platform X describe the programme as a "tough" and "haunting" watch.

One viewer commented on the platform, stating: "This diddy documentary is truly something. Tough but very insightful watch. 50 Cent and Netflix put their all into this documentary." Another singled out the third episode, calling it "soo dark like just haunting."

Never-Before-Seen Footage and Exclusive Interviews

The documentary series provides an in-depth look at Combs's journey to becoming a hip-hop royalty, featuring exclusive accounts from former associates and individuals who claim to have witnessed his controversial behaviour over the years. It also explores his high-profile feuds, including with the late rapper Tupac Shakur.

A significant and unsettling element of the series is the inclusion of private, self-filmed footage of Combs from the period just before his arrest in September 2024. At the time, he was under federal investigation following multiple lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct.

Director Alexandria Stapleton addressed the source of this footage, explaining: "It came to us, we obtained the footage legally and have the necessary rights. We moved heaven and earth to keep the filmmaker’s identity confidential. One thing about Sean Combs is that he’s always filming himself." She confirmed that Combs's legal team was approached for comment on multiple occasions but did not respond.

Executive Production and Legal Context

The series is executive produced by rapper and filmmaker Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson. In a statement ahead of the release, Jackson said, "I've been committed to real storytelling for years through G-Unit Film and Television. I'm grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories."

Sean Combs continues to deny all allegations made against him. 'Sean Combs: The Reckoning' is now available for streaming globally on the Netflix platform.
