Global pop icon Taylor Swift has sent fans into a frenzy with the release of the official trailer for her upcoming concert film, promising exclusive content and special surprises from the historic finale of her record-breaking world tour.
What's Inside The Final Show Film
Disney debuted the minute-and-a-half trailer on Monday, revealing that 'The Eras Tour: The Final Show' will feature much more than a standard concert recording. Swift confirmed the film will include the highly anticipated addition of a setlist from her latest album, 'The Tortured Poets Department', as well as the beloved 'surprise songs' segment from her live shows.
The film documents Swift wrapping up her years-long, eras-spanning tour with three dates in Vancouver, concluding on 8 December 2024. In the trailer, catchy clips showcase her performing new tracks like 'Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?' and 'I Can Do It With a Broken Heart'.
A Nostalgic Finale and a New Docuseries
A poignant moment in the preview shows Swift at her instantly recognisable painted piano, performing a lyric-changed version of 'Long Live' from her 2010 album 'Speak Now'. She alters the words to sing, 'It was the end of an era', before concluding with 'But the start of an age'.
In addition to the concert film, Swift is releasing a six-part docuseries titled 'The End of an Era'. Described as an intimate look at her life on and off stage during the mega-tour, it will feature guest appearances from opening acts like Gracie Abrams and Sabrina Carpenter, as well as performers Ed Sheeran and Florence Welch.
Release Schedule and Record-Breaking Tour Legacy
Both the concert film and the first two episodes of the docuseries will begin streaming exclusively on Disney+ on 12 December. Subsequent episodes of the series will drop in pairs weekly until the finale.
The Eras Tour, which kicked off in March 2023, became a cultural phenomenon. Each show ran approximately three and a half hours, featuring a 44-song setlist. By its conclusion, Swift had performed 149 concerts across five continents. According to Billboard, the tour grossed over $2.2 billion, cementing its status as the highest-grossing tour in history.
In the trailer's voiceover, a grateful Swift tells her fans, 'I want to thank every single one of you for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my life to date.' This new release offers a final, expansive look at that unprecedented chapter.
